Imagine that it’s winter out there with new-fallen snow you are with your family and friends in front of a lit fireplace with a glass of steaming mulled wine in hand, it does not get any better than that!
Mulled wine is a wine-based drink, which is spiced and usually served hot.
At least until a few years ago when Blossa began putting a new fashion for mulled wine in the vintage mulled wine which has become a new favorite of the Swedes that can be enjoyed both hot and cold.
To drink hot spiced wine has roots in antiquity, where Greeks and Romans started to put spices in their wine, for health reasons and for improve the taste.
Already during the Middle Ages people in the north drank warm wine, but mainly during the winter.
Our own King Gustav Vasa enjoyed a glas of Klaret, which consists of Rhine wine heated with sugar, honey and spices.
The name of mulled wine that comes from the expression mulled wine and turn up around 1609 in Sweden.

Do you want to make your own mulled wine, it is not too hard, remember to choose a simpler wine as a base.
A liter, about 8 glasses
Ingredients:
1 liter of red wine
3 cinnamon sticks
10 whole cloves
1 teaspoon whole cardamom seeds
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
To do this:
Pour the wine into a saucepan, add cinnamon sticks, cloves, cardamom seeds and sugar.
For best results, heat it to about 75 ° C. Use a thermometer.
Let sit for about 15-30 minutes. Strain and serve mulled wine at about 70 degrees along with almonds and raisins.
