Skörden i Champagne 2016

Annons:

Please keep your fingers crossed for us along the next harvest !
Rodolphe
What are your thoughts of this years harvest, are you being effected of the diseases and the hail?
We have been affected by successive frosts, hail storms and excess of rains created strong fungal pressure.
So, for sure it’s a challenging year so far.

Are you effected in volume this year?
Yes, about 35-40% less
Will you use more reserve wines this year to meet the production volume?
Reserves have been created to respond such a situation.

Do you have to increase your prices due to bad harvest?
Prices are going to be mainly influenced by the changes of the farming ways (ploughing, organic protection, no more artificial’s fertilizers,…) generating in average much lower yields with more work, rather than climates hazards.

What are your generell opinion of the grape Chardonnay?
For this specific year it’s still too early. We lost a lot in quantity but we will play the quality in the 3-4 coming weeks.
As for Chardonnay in Champagne, it seems that this grapes is quite tolerant and continue to respond properly to the climate changes.
(Even if the Chardonnay is especially sensible to the oïdium)

Finally, which is your favourite Chardonnay based wine?
Le Mesnil, in Champagne
Chablis and Meursault in Burgundy
